Power cuts stop water pumps, RO plants, vending machines and shops. This guide covers the generators, solar pumps and solar backup kits on Buy More Mall, with prices and a simple way to choose the right size.

| Generator | Size | Fuel / notes | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| DAYLIFF DG1200S 1 kVA Petrol Genset | 1 kVA | Petrol | KSh 26,100 |
| DAYLIFF DG3800ST 2.8 kVA Petrol Genset | 2.8 kVA | Petrol | KSh 50,370 |
| DAYLIFF DG6000DS 4.5 kVA Diesel Generator with ATS | 4.5 kVA | Diesel, with ATS | KSh 247,950 |
| DAYLIFF DG7500P 6 kVA Petrol Generator | 6 kVA | Petrol | KSh 123,980 |
| DAYLIFF DG Multi-4 Multifunction Power Pack | Portable | Multifunction power pack | KSh 124,990 |
Also listed: DAYLIFF Automatic Voltage Switcher 3P (KSh 16,310) for protecting 3-phase equipment, and the DAYLIFF DSmart 1500 Smart Water Boosting System (KSh 199,670).
Example: a 0.75 kW water pump (about 2.3 kW when starting) plus lights and a TV (0.3 kW) needs about 2.6 kW at the moment the pump starts, so a 2.8 kVA set is too tight. A 4.5 kVA set is safer.
An ATS (automatic transfer switch) starts the generator and switches the load over when mains power fails, then switches back when it returns. It is ideal for water treatment sites, clinics and shops where nobody is around to switch manually. The DG6000DS diesel generator comes with an ATS.
For water pumping on farms and remote sites, solar pumps have no fuel cost and pump most when the sun is strongest, which is when irrigation and livestock need water. Store the water in a tank for the night instead of storing power in batteries.

A solar pump must be sized for the head (height), the daily volume and the solar panels together. Send us the borehole depth and water needs. For tanks, see Water Tank Price in Kenya.

Solar panels turn sunlight into DC electricity. A controller feeds that power to the pump, adjusting the speed as the sunlight changes, and protects the pump (for example from running dry). The pump runs whenever the sun is strong enough, pumping water into a raised tank. Water from the tank then flows to taps or irrigation by gravity, day and night.
Usually not. The cheapest and longest-lasting way to "store" solar power for water is a storage tank: pump in the day, use the water any time. Batteries add cost and need replacing. A battery or a hybrid (solar plus mains or generator) setup makes sense only when you need pressure at night without a raised tank.
| Surface solar pump | Submersible solar pump | |
|---|---|---|
| Water source | Rivers, dams, shallow wells, tanks | Boreholes and deep wells |
| Where it sits | On the ground, next to the water | Under water, inside the borehole |
| Depth limit | Can only suck water from a few metres below the pump | Pushes water up from deep below |
| Use | Irrigation, transfer to a tank | Borehole water supply, irrigation |
Check each product page for the pump type and the maximum head (total lift) before you buy.
Send these three figures to us through the product page or WhatsApp and we will match a pump and panel set.
Solar panels last many years. The pump's life depends on correct sizing and protection: dry running, sand and an undersized cable are the usual causes of early failure. The big saving is that there is no fuel or power bill, so a solar pump is often worth it for farms and homes far from the grid, or where generator fuel is expensive. The trade-off is a higher upfront cost and less water on cloudy days, which a bigger tank evens out.
On Buy More Mall, from KSh 26,100 (1 kVA petrol) to KSh 247,950 (4.5 kVA diesel with ATS).
Allow about 3 times the pump running power for starting. A 0.75 kW pump plus a few lights usually needs a 4 to 4.5 kVA set.
From KSh 18,230 for a DC solar pump to KSh 38,250 for a larger solar pump system. Panels are sized separately.
Petrol sets are cheaper to buy and fine for occasional use. Diesel sets cost more but use less fuel and last longer for frequent or long running.

Solar panels power the pump through a controller whenever the sun shines, filling a raised tank that feeds water by gravity.
Usually not. A storage tank is the cheaper way to store the water pumped during the day.
Many years when correctly sized and protected from dry running and sand. The panels last longest.
Often yes for farms and off-grid homes: no fuel or power bill, though it costs more upfront.
It pumps less on cloudy days and stops at night, so size the tank to carry you through.
